LAPD Shooting Takes Place During Parole-Probation Search, Officer Shot In Face & Neck [VIDEO]
A gunman that hid inside an attic reportedly shot some LAPD officers that were in the midst of conducting a parole-probation search, which resulted in the wounding of an LAPD gang officer and a parole officer.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the suspect shot off "multiple rounds inside a home in unincorporated South Los Angeles," and struck the parole officer in the leg, and the gang officer in the face and neck.
Several rounds were said to be exchanged between the suspect and law enforcement, as bullets went through the floor and ceiling.
The LAPD gang officer is currently getting surgery at an unidentified hospital, but his injuries don't appear to be life threatening.
The gunman is currently not under arrest, and it's uncertain whether he had escaped the home.
The melee reportedly began just before 7 p.m. in the 2200 block of East 117th Street, which is an area patrolled by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
Following the shooting, law enforcement closed the slow lane and off ramp on the 105 Freeway at Wilmington Avenue going eastbound.
There was another attack that had occurred earlier in the day in Mid-City. During the attack, a gunman opened fire on two LAPD undercover detectives. They only sustained minor injuries, and the authorities are currently on a manhunt for the suspect.
