New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was arrested Wednesday morning at his home in Massachusetts and taken away in handcuffs.

The NFL Network 's NFL AM showed a video of several police officers escorting Hernandez from his home at approximately 8:45 am ET. When police arrived at his home, Hernandez opened his front door and the officers entered the house. The 23-year-old NFL player, who was dressed in a white T-shirt, which covered his arms, and red shorts, showed no emotion as two officers walked him to a police car parked in the driveway of his home.

According to Deadspin, Hernandez is expected to be charged with obstruction of justice for destroying pontential evidence and refusing to cooperate with authorities, regarding the June 17 murder of his associate, Odin Lloyd.

Hernadez's lawyers denied Tuesday that an arrest warrant was issued.

However, ABC News reported on Friday that authorities were expected to execute an arrest warrant at some point for Hernandez.

Michael Fee, an attorney for Hernandez, released a statement Monday night that read:

"Over the past week, our client, Aaron Hernandez, has been the subject of a relentless flood of rumors, misinformation and false reports in the media. These include the repeated publication of a supposedly confirmed report that an arrest warrant had been issued for Aaron, a report that was exposed as untrue."

"None of these false reports come from official sources and we appreciate the professionalism and restraint shown by the Bristol County District Attorney's Office, to date, with regard to its public statements while its investigation is underway," Fee added. "Out of respect for that ongoing investigation, we will continue to refrain from commenting on its substance."

Sources said that police issued a warrant after investigators discovered a damged security system at Hernandez's home, along with his destroyed cellphone, sources told ABC News.

State police officers and dogs searched Hernandez's home for more than 3 hours on Saturday.
