After a Supreme Court decision on Wednesday, which forces the federal government to acknowledge same-sex marriage in the states where it's legal, Demi Lovato took to Twitter to express her excitement.

"Gay, straight, lesbian, bi.. No one is better than any one else. What an incredible day for California and for equality," she tweeted. After her initial tweet, she wrote, "Our love was made, #MadeintheUSA! #equality #Marriage4ALL #NOH8."

Lovato's fans admired her words. One Twitter user responded, "That's why you're my hero. I seriously can't wait for that day when we'll hug to come! I love you, I love you, I love you."

The ruling Lovato commented on grants federal benefits to married gay couples in states where the union is legal. It also overturns the Defense of Marriage Act, which was signed by President Bill Clinton in 1996. With a 5 to 4 decision, Proposition 8 is also ended and in turn, same-sex marriage in California will resume.

Lovato, however, wasn't the only celebrity to tweet her support.

Alicia Keys wrote, "I am standing on the right side of history. I stand with @HRC for marriage equality. #SCOTUS #time 4 marriage."

Comedian Russell Brand tweeted, "If you're gay married in California your gay marriage is now legal. Good. #allmarriageisabitgay."

Girls star Lena Dunham wrote, "First Wendy, now DOMA gets the boot! Sometimes things are really great."

Singer Ricky Martin, who revealed his own homosexuality in 2010, tweeted "#PROP8 is gone! #Doma is gone! #SCOTUS #LoveisLove."

Actor John Stamos also wrote, "What a momentous day. All Americans are equal, no matter who you. #LoveisLove." He also added, "I'm so happy about today's decision I could kiss a man," along with a photo of him kissing comedian Don Rickles on the cheek.

The Supreme Court rulings, however, do not take into account the laws that ban same-sex marriage in other states. There are currently 37 states that don't recognize same-sex marriage.
