Arnold Schwarzenegger had an emergency open heart surgery on Thursday, March 29. The actor is reportedly in a stable condition following the surgery. Schwarzenegger went to Cedar-Sinai Medical Center to reportedly have a catheter valve replaced.

Following this, the 70-year-old actor experienced some complications which prompted doctors to perform the surgery.

Arnold's Previous Health Scare

This isn't the first time the former Governor received surgery for his heart. The film legend underwent a secretive heat surgery in 1997 to replace an aortic valve. The operation took place in Mexico.

"I've never felt sick or had any symptoms at all, but I knew I'd have to take care of this condition sooner or later. I said to the doctors, 'Let's do it now, while I'm young and healthy.' They agreed this was the way to go," the actor stated about the operation.

Schwarzenegger opted not to tell his wife, Maria Shriver, at the time that he was getting the procedure due to the fact that she was pregnant. The actor lied and told his wife that he was going a quick vacation.

"I told him, 'Here is the plan, I am going to have the heart surgery, you do it quietly, no one knows about it, we do it at six in the morning. Four days later I am out of here and I go to Mexico and I will tell Maria I am down here, a little busy and I am on vacation, when I come back I'll be tanned and no one will know," the actor stated in 2012 during an interview.

The Terminator star admitted to using steroids during his time as a professional bodybuilder in the 1970s. The doctor's who performed the surgery on the actor stated that his previous use of the drugs were not the reasons the actor had surgery but was more so because of health issues that hereditary.

The Predator actor's family has not commented yet. Schwarzenegger is still legally married to Maria, though the two have separated following the announcement that the actor fathered a child with their housemaid fourteen years ago.

The estranged couple has four children together: Patrick, Katherine, Christina, and Christopher.
