Aaron Hernandez's arrest has sparked an Internet trend deemed "Hernandezing" across social media sites and blogs.

Much like Tebowing, Hernandezing involves striking a pose made popular by the former NFL player. Several Twitter users posted pictures of themselves with their hands behind their backs and through the bottom of their t-shirts to simulate the look Hernandez sported while being lead away from his home in handcuffs. A picture Hernandez took of himself brandishing a handgun has also spurred mimics.

Some Twitter users have expressed dismay about the morbid trend, which started because of the murder of Odin Lloyd and the resulting arrest of the former Patriots tight end in connection with Lloyd's death.

"Oh no #Hernandezing is actually a thing?!?" Marykate Sinnott wrote on the social media site.

Several companies have even started selling t-shirts featuring the Hernandezing pose. The site Redbubble.com offers t-shirts for $24.95 in several colors, which feature the silhouette of a man wearing the same red shorts and white v-neck Hernandez was sporting when he was arrested at his Attleboro, Mass. home.

Hernandez was formally charged with first-degree murder in the Attleboro District Court on June 26. Federal prosecutors said the former NFL tight end was upset with his alleged victim, Odin Lloyd, because Lloyd associated with Hernandez's rivals at a nightclub.

Hernandez was charged with carrying a firearm without a license and four counts of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. The prosecution claims to have surveillance footage of the tight end carrying a weapon before and after Lloyd's murder as well as other evidence such as a shell from the gun that was used to kill Lloyd, which was found in a car Hernandez rented.

Hernandez pleaded not guilty to the charges and is being held in custody until the trial. He was denied bail.

The New England Patriots released Hernandez from their roster hours before their former tight end was officially charged.
