Beyoncé’s Stepfather, Richard Lawson, Shows A Tremendous Amount Of Support As He Awaits Her Coachella Debut
As Beyoncé is getting ready to headline this year's Coachella festival, several members of her inner circle are talking.
Richard Lawson Speaks
One person that is ready to see the "Run The World (Girls)" singer in action is her stepfather, Richard Lawson. The veteran actor sat down with People Magazine and told the media news outlet that he would indeed be at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival to see her perform. This news was a surprise to Erica Ash and Christian Keyes, his co-stars in the new BET Networks drama In Contempt, as they hoped to tag along to see Beyoncé perform.
The Last-Minute Preparations
Lawson's announcement comes as Beyoncé continues to make last-minute arrangements for her performance at the Indio, California concert festival. Entertainment Tonight caught up with the "Freedom" singer-songwriter's choreographer, JaQuel Knight, who helped Beyoncé create memorable moments throughout her career including her performance at the Super Bowl and the 2017 Formation World Tour, stated that what Beyoncé has in store for the concertgoers is genuinely something special.
"[Her Coachella performance] is going to change the game. Be ready for a good time. A good ol' time," said Knight to Entertainment Tonight.
It has been heavily rumored that Beyoncé, her dancers, and her creative team had 11-hour rehearsals to perfect their performance. Also, she has gone on a vegan diet and will showcase the results of her diet to the crowd when she takes the stage on April 14 and April 21.
Jay-Z Opens Up
While Beyoncé is making final adjustments to her performance, Netflix just aired her husband Jay-Z's interview with David Letterman. In the recent episode of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman, Jay-Z spoke about his past mistakes of infidelity. While he did not use the word "cheating" during his interview, the rap mogul revealed that he made some serious mistakes and added that because of the work he and Beyoncé put through, their marriage is stronger than ever.
Channeling Egyptian Royalty
Outside of her Coachella preparations, Beyoncé continues to release new merchandise. Recently she channeled legendary Egyptian ruler Queen Nefertiti for her latest clothing line. Among the pieces of new clothing included is a white cropped t-shirt with a colored photograph of Beyoncé in her Egyptian-inspired theme wear. Also included is an orange t-shirt with nine photos of the Coachella performer in various poses.
Motorcycle Ride In Jamaica
Once she is done with her obligations with Coachella, Beyoncé and Jay-Z are expected to begin rehearsals for their eagerly anticipated tour, On The Road II. The couple was spotted in Jamaica filming segments for the tour on a motorcycle. Reports indicated that Beyoncé was highly appreciative of the fans who followed them as the couple visited Trench Town.
Third Wedding Anniversary
In addition to watching his stepdaughter in action at Coachella, Lawson will be celebrating his third year of marriage with Beyoncé's mother, fashion designer Tina Knowles, on Thursday, April 12. Three years ago, Beyoncé, Jay-Z, daughter Blue Ivy, and Beyoncé's sister, Solange, were all in attendance when the duo exchanged vows in Newport Beach, California.
