Nick Cannon Is 'Proud' Of Ex-Wife Mariah Carey For Revealing Battle With Bipolar Disorder
Since Mariah Carey opened up about her diagnosis and private battle with bipolar disorder in an intimate interview with People Magazine, she has received nothing but praise from fans and fellow colleagues in the music industry.
Another significant person that reportedly had nothing but positive thoughts about Carey's condition is her former husband, singer and actor Nick Cannon.
Nick Is Proud
The former America's Got Talent host apparently is proud of his ex-wife for coming forward with her diagnosis. According to sources close to the actor, Cannon was aware of his wife's disorder and was always supportive of her.
"Nick has known about Mariah's diagnosis forever. This isn't news to him. This was a big part of their relationship and even today, it's something he's mindful of," a source stated.
Cannon and Carey were married from 2008 to 2016. The former couple have twins, Morrocan and Monroe, together. Though the former pair has been divorced for almost two years now, Cannon has spoken very highly of his former wife and still has love and respect for her.
"He's proud of her for coming forward and using her platform for good. He loves her as the mother of his children and always wants what is best for her," the source continued.
Mariah's Struggles
The "Can't Let Go' singer stated that she was living in "denial and fear" that someone would "expose" her illness when she opened up about living with the disorder. The iconic artist continued that she also "ignored" the problem and that she decided to finally seek help after recent events in her life.
"It was too heavy a burden to carry and I simply couldn't do that anymore. I sought and received treatment, I put positive people around me and I got back to doing what I love -- writing songs and making music," Carey stated in the interview.
Carey was engaged to billionaire James Packer in 2016. The former couple had ended their engagement in October 2016 and Packer came forward with his own personal mental health issues after the two split.
