It looks like Wendy Williams has to eat crow after insulting gospel music icons The Clark Sisters. The star has invited them to her show.

Wendy Goes Too Far?

Williams most likely didn’t expect to receive so much backlash from the gospel community after she had slammed the singing group during her hot topics show earlier this week.

She reported on rapper Snoop Dogg’s gospel album being number 1 on the charts. The TV show host then questioned how gospel artists must feel about a rapper besting them.

She brought up The Clark Sisters and challenged if they have ever gone number 1. She then suggested that they “step up their game.”

A Gospel Clapback

It didn’t take long for gospel artists and celebrities to flock to social media and hit back at Williams for not knowing her gospel history. They pointed out that The Clark Sisters have had albums that reached number 1.

Also, the gospel music icons have major influences on popular artists today such as Beyonce, Mariah Carey, and even Jay-Z who sampled the group on his latest album 4:44. Now, gospel fans are the latest to feud with Williams.

Check out some of the responses below.

Kierra Sheard, daughter of Karen Clark Sheard, who is a member of the group, was one of the first to hand Williams a classy clapback.

Comedian Lexi Allen also chimed in and blasted Williams. She pointed out how Williams had fainted and said that she should be nicer given her very public health issues.

One fan suggested that Williams know her history before slamming a group like The Clark Sisters.

Another said fans of the group are coming for Williams like none other.

One said they hoped The Clark Sisters clapped back at Williams with a song.

Another said they were here for the ruckus on social media.

One made it clear they were done with Williams.

One used lyrics from one of The Clark Sisters' hit singles to prove her point.

Wendy Williams Backpedals?

Williams had caught wind of the backlash and took to social media to respond to what has been categorized as one of the shadiest apologies to date.

“I didn’t mean anything bad about The Clark Sisters,” said Williams. “I like The Clark Sisters. This is what I’m gonna do, pack some pretty dresses and come to New York we’ll make all the arrangements.”

Clark Sisters, I love you and hope to see you on the show soon! XO, WW A post shared by  Wendy Williams (@wendyshow) on Apr 19, 2018 at 2:12pm PDT

The Clark Sisters have yet to respond to Williams’s apology or confirm whether they will appear on her daytime talk show or not.
