Bobbi Kristina Brown announced that she is engaged to Nick Gordon, the informally adopted son of her mother, the late Whitney Houston.

Brown, 20, shared the news on Facebook on Wednesday, July 10.

"YES, we me nick are engaged," she wrote after she shared several photos on the social media site.

She also posted the photos on her Instagram account, which also showed off her engagement ring.

Brown took the opportunity to address the nature of her relationship with Gordon, denying that the couple are siblings.

"Let me clear up something, we aren't even real brother and sister nor is he my adoptive brother."

Brown addressed the rumors that her mother formally adopted Gordon and revealed for the first time that her mother approved of their relationship, before her untimely death.

"My mom never adopted him. In fact, mommy was the one who even said that she knew that we were going to start dating. My mom knows me better than any of you," Kristina said.

Brown and Gordon made headlines last month after they were evicted from their Atlanta apartment, due to noise complaints from neighbors. TMZ reported on June 5 that Brown left an expletive-laced note for the neighbor who filed the complaints. The note posted on the website shows that the 20-year-old called the unidentified neighbor several scathing names and accused the person of being jealous of Brown's relationship with Gordon.

"You were honored to have us living above you and you couldn't stand such a young beautiful couple far more successful than you ever will be," Brown wrote. " I pray your misery doesn't rub off on your innocent little baby."

Gordon and Brown went public with their relationship shortly after her mother died on the eve of the Grammy awards show in February, 2012. They appeared in a reality show with members of Houston's family, titled The Houstons: On Our Own. The show aired in the summer of 2012 on the Lifetime network.
