'Hunger Games' Wins 2nd Weekend with $61.1M, Tops 'Wrath' and 'Mirror'
'The Hunger Games' met expectations to win the weekend domestic box office crown from two new arrivals, earning $61.1 million, although its total dropped about 60 percent from the previous weekend's gain. The movie has earned $251 million in 10 days since it opened.
Last weekend, the Lionsgate production earned $152.5 million in its opening weekend.
The film reached the $250 million mark faster than any other non-sequel movie, according to Gitesh Pandya, editor of BoxOfficeGuru.com
In Second place was "Wrath of the Titans" with $34.2 million. That total is 44 percent lower than the Clash of the Titans, the film's predecessor in 2010, Pandya noted.
"Mirror, Mirror wound up in third with $19 million.
Meanwhile, the new documentary, "Bully" earned $115,000 in a limited release of five theaters. The film, which had a well-publicized ratings battle with the MPAA, opens broadly on April 20.
