Pippa Middleton Sues Twitter Account Making Parody of Her Party Tips in 'Celebrate''?
Pippa Middleton's lawyers are reportedly ready to launch legal action against the creators of @Pippatips, a Twitter account that makes fun of the socialite's party planning and fashion tips.
Mat Morrisroe and Suzanne Azzopardi started the social media account poking fun at Middleton's tips published in her party-planning book Celebrate: A Year of Festivities for Families and Friends. After reaching 50,000-plus followers, they decided to write a parody book titled When One is Expecting: A Posh Person's Guide to Pregnancy and Parenting. Published by Icon Books, the book hit bookshelves on June 6.
The book description states: "From conception to your little prince or princess's first birthday, this invaluable guide will lead you by the hand through the common questions and worries you will face, including: Does 'nesting' mean I have to live in a tree? Which are the best supplements to take? ES Magazine or Sunday Times Style?"
Since the book's publication, Middleton's lawyers, Harbottle & Lewis, have reportedly demanded that the Twitter account poking fun at the 29-year-old be deleted. Now at 53,000-plus followers, @Pippatips' last tweet was sent June 14: "#PippaTip: Britons; save time by not bothering to watch weather forecasts & simply assuming it's going to be cold & overcast all the time."
Britain magazine NewStatesman reported that the book has already surpassed Amazon sales of Middleton's book, which was released October 2012.
In December's issue of The Spectator, Middleton wrote, "It's all good fun, I know, and I realize that authors ought to take criticism on the chin...But in my defense, let me say this: Celebrate is meant to be a guide to party planning and, as such, it has to cover the basics."
