Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ryan Gosling, Chris Pine and Jake Gyllenhaal are some of the frontrunners to play Batman in the tentatively titled Batman vs Superman film, set for release in 2015.

The online betting site Paddy Power, has Gordon-Levitt, Ryan Gosling and co as the odds-on favorites to play the role of the Caped Crusader, after director Zack Snyder announced the film's production to the Warner Bros. panel at Comic-Con on Saturday.

The film will be the official sequel to Man of Steel and actor Henry Cavill will reprise his role as Superman in the follow-up. Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane will also return for the Superman/Batman movie, the studio announced. The role of Batman has yet to be filled, however.

Christian Bale has ruled himself out of playing Batman for a fourth occasion, although bookies still have him in the running at 12/1.

"This is something that was born with Chris (Nolan's) vision and I find it hard to imagine doing something without Chris at the helm, so it does seem to me like this is it for me," Bale told the New York Daily News last summer about his collaboration with Batman trilogy director Christopher Nolan.

Other actors suggested for the role include Magic Mike star Channing Tatum, and, as a 100/1 outsider, Hugh Jackman. Several actors were ranked by bookies on Paddy Power as possible leads for Batman:
