New York Knicks Rumors: Iman Shumpert Denies Report He's Unhappy with Team [VIDEO]
Iman Shumpert took to his Twitter page to deny rumors that he's unhappy with his Knicks team.
"Can we please DEAD these dumb a** rumors! I love my team as well as the new additions. I wanna win! #thatisall -Iman Shumpert," he tweeted on July 21.
Shumpert's comments came after a report in the New York Daily News on Saturday claimed the second-year player is unhappy with the direction the team is heading in.
"Shumpert, I've heard, isn't too crazy about the moves the Knicks have made, which could further stunt his development," wrote Daily News reporter Frank Isola.
Shumpert's future with the Knicks has been a topic of much discussion recently, after ESPN's Steven A. Smith said the team's owner, James Dolan, was apparently willing to trade his young shooting guard because he didn't want to partake in the NBA's summer league.
Smith made the revelation to Dwight Howard during an outtake from their July 13 interview on ESPN. The footage was leaked in a viral video, which recently hit the web.
"And by the way, Dolan was ready to trade him [Shumpert], because he didn't want to work out in the summer league," Smith said. "Dolan's talking about trading him. I said, 'Trade who? You better hold onto that boy. You better not lose Iman Shumpert. That boy can play.'"
Shumpert has been in Asia on an NBA-sponsored trip to be a league ambassador, but Knicks coach Mike Woodson said that when he returns to the U.S. the 23-year-old has to work on his offense cause he has "has a long ways to go."
