The Kate Effect: Kate Middleton Maternity Dress Has Month-Long Waiting List [PHOTOS]
After the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton was spotted in a Séraphine maternity dress, it not only sold out, it became waitlisted.
On Wednesday, photographers snapped shots of the royal in a car with Prince William while on their way to her parents' home in Bucklebury, England. This was one of their first royal outings since giving birth to Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge on Monday.
As viewed on Séraphinematernity.com, the $85 Blossom Knot Front Lavender Dress that Middleton wore on the outing is in stock but will take weeks to deliver.
The dress description states, "Please note that due to high demand for this style, there is a 4 week waiting time for delivery. Place your order and stock will be dispatched the week commencing the 26th of August."
Ever since the 31-year-old duchess has been photographed wearing different outfits from the brand since March, sales have soared up to 40 percent, according to Daily Mail. The high quality fashion brand reported a turnover of $8 million in the year ending March 2013. Founder & Designer Cécile Reinaud expects a turnover for 2014 to reach $12.3 million.
"The Kate effect is worldwide. From China, Russia to South Africa, sales are boosted due to the fact she chose our brand to dress her royal bump," Reinaud said. "Sales of one item, the £39 Brooke dress, quadrupled after the Duchess was reported to have taken a fancy to it when she was shopping in Sloane Square."
