Trevor Noah Charges Doctor for Causing 'Permanent' Severe Injuries? Actor Spills EXTREME Suffering During Treatment
The "Daily Show" host Trevor Noah reportedly sued a New York City hospital and orthopedic surgeon for negligence during his treatment from 2020.
Noah claimed that the Hospital for Special Surgery and Dr. Riley J. Williams were "careless in failing to treat and care for [him] in a careful and skillful manner" after a procedure in the said year. These were mentioned in the court documents filed in the New York Supreme Court, per Page Six.
Apparently, the 37-year-old admitted that he was a patient of Williams from August 25 to December 17, 2020, and by November 23, he underwent surgery.
Inside Noah's Lawsuit
Apart from the mentioned accusations, Noah listed down numerous failures the hospital and surgeon failed to give. The lawsuit said that the NYC hospital and his doctor failed to "prescribe proper medications," failed to "discontinue certain prescription medications," and was unable to do proper testing to "diagnose the conditions."
The South African TV personality also claimed that he lives through "serious personal injury" that is "permanent, severe, and grievous," as said by documents. Noah's injuries have allegedly left him "rendered sick, sore, lame, and disabled," making him suffer "a loss of enjoyment for life."
Due to the incident, the documents said that he could not return from his work for an extended time. And some of his injuries "are of a permanent nature," he was said to suffer continuously in similar damages in the future.
On The Hospital's Response
As reported by People, the Hospital for Special Surgery has denied the claims. A representative said, "HSS received a complaint filed on behalf of Mr. Trevor Noah. We have shared with Mr. Noah's attorney a detailed rebuttal to the claims, which are meritless."
"Due to HIPAA we are restricted by law from addressing publicly specific aspects of the treatment of any patient." They continued, "This commitment has made HSS the world's leading academic medical center specialized in musculoskeletal health, consistently ranked #1 in orthopedics globally and nationally."
Yet, the suit did not name a specific amount of damages Noah is seeking.
Meanwhile, NBC News was able to find Dr. Williams' profile on the Hospital for Special Surgery's website stating that he specializes in "knee, shoulder and elbow surgery." He has also worked as medical director and head team orthopedic surgeon for the sports teams, NBA Brooklyn Nets and WNBA New York Liberty.
