Metta World Peace gave a preview of what Knick fans can expect this season as the former Laker racked up 29 points but also drew a technical foul at a Drew League game.

Peace was part of the Money Gang team, run by the rapper The Game, along with the Toronto Raptors' DeMar DeRozan, former San Antonio Spur Stephen Jackson and Phoenix Suns' guard Shannon Brown. The opposing team, the three-time reigning champion LAUNFD (pronounced L.A. Unified), featured Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant and is run by former Knick Baron Davis.

The game was competitive and came down to a final shot by Durant, which missed, giving Money Gang a 92-90 victory on Sunday in Los Angeles. Peace had a strong showing, finishing with 27 points and 11 rebounds (Durant put up 35 points and 17 rebounds), but the mercurial forward also picked up a technical foul early in the contest after taking exception to a foul on an and-one, throwing the ball at the opposing player.

Peace seemed to be in good shape, though the Drew League game only offered a fraction of the intensity and talent the 33-year-old will face when he suits up for the Knicks in the 2013-2014 season. Artest has always been disciplined in regards to staying in shape and being prepared to play every night. It's his mercurial personality that is cause for concern.

The fact that he picked up a technical foul in a summer pick-up game shouldn't come as surprise. And the Knicks are aware of the baggage that comes with the veteran forward who was suspended for 86 games during the 2004-2005 season, as a member of the Indiana Pacers, for his role in a brawl with Detroit Pistons' players and fans during a game.

New York is willing to take the risk however, because Peace is well versed in the two areas the Knicks need help with the most: defense and overall toughness. With the former NBA Defensive Player of the Year on their roster, the Knicks won't be bullied by opposing teams' front lines next season.
