Lexi Reed Survived Near-Death Experience Following Multiple Organ Failure
Lexi Reed herself broke her silence after waking up from a medically induced coma.
After suffering from life-and-death experience in the past weeks, Reed took everyone's worries away by confirming she had been recovering in the hospital.
On Instagram, she shared a photo with the text "we fall. we break. we fail. but then, we rise. we heal. we overcome."
The 31-year-old influencer said she is back home and currently plans to work on getting better in the next few weeks and months.
"Happy to be alive when it was seeming to be not possible and I was unresponsive in the trauma room. Thank you to everyone for the love I'm already seeing today from the past month. Love you guys- Lexi," she wrote.
She shared another post hours later, saying she created a GoFundMe page to cover her medical expenses.
As of press time, nearly 2000 people already donated and collected $56,501 so far. Upon seeing the progress, Reed said she could feel everyone's love through financial assistance. She also took her time to thank her family members who have been helping her move around.
What Happened to Lexi Reed?
Reed's husband, Danny, broke his silence through Instagram page last week. He revealed that the lifestyle influencer kept getting sick a few weeks ago. She also reportedly could not consume any food.
"She then started acting differently, so I took her to the hospital where they admitted her into ICU, placed on a medically induced [coma], on a ventilator, and [told] me that her organs started failing," he said.
He shared further details about her state, saying she underwent dialysis and could not walk.
Following her recent recovery, her fans and followers shared heartfelt messages online as they continue to wish her well.
One said, "Don't feel the need to show up on social media for people. Take time to heal and recover how we long that may be!"
"So glad to hear you are better. I simply could not believe what happened to you. Inspiration to many," another wrote.
Reed scored people's attention when she began documenting her weight loss journey in 2016. While she lost 312 lbs, her husband also did the same and was able to cut 95 lbs. However, she reportedly gained a little again due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
