Was Brian Laundrie on Drugs Before Killing Himself? Full Autopsy Result Confirms Fugitive's Horrifying Last Days While 'Hiding'
Did Brian Laundrie use drugs before killing Gabby Petito and himself?
Laundrie's case might be closed soon as the official and full autopsy result has been recently released months after he was found dead.
Initially, the authorities found partial human remains in the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park. They soon announced that the remains were of those Laundrie through dental records.
After the first report came out, they finally completed the investigation and released the autopsy report to the public.
The 47-page report, obtained by PEOPLE, disclosed once-unknown details about the other things that were discovered in the area as well as Laundrie's state before claiming his own life.
As to whether he drugged himself before killing himself and Petito, the official toxicology report included in the autopsy results said that the fugitive was not under influence of any harmful substances before his death. This agreed with what his parents told an investigator about his health, saying he was healthy and did not take any prescribed medications.
However, they refused to comment about their son's social history, including substance use and sexual behavior, among others.
What the Authorities Found Out
Aside from his negative drug test, the investigators and authorities found more helpful items around the area. They also described what the remains looked like when they discovered them.
One investigator said that Laundrie's "skeletal remains and personal effects were in plain sight and scattered upon the dirt." Several human bones were also recovered, hinting that animals gnawed his parts following his death.
A pair of green shorts, green belt, slip-on shows, empty backpack, metal ring, and unknown type of handgun were also recovered from the scene.

Another scene had a hat with the "MOAB Coffee Roasters" logo and a handwritten note. The autopsy report did not publicize its content. The report added that they also located a dry bag with a journal and wooden box inside where photographs and a small notebook were stored.
Though his death did not help the authorities identify who killed Petito, Laundrie reportedly used his notebook to confess that he caused his fiancée's death.
All logical investigative steps have been concluded in this case," said FBI Denver Division Special Agent in Charge Michael Schneider in a previous statement. "The investigation did not identify any other individuals other than Brian Laundrie directly involved in the tragic death of Gabby Petito."
