Lexi Reed Shares Shocking Truth After Near-Death Experience During Hospitalization
Lexi Reed still feels fearful following her near-death experience.
A month after facing a multiple organ failure that kept her inside a hospital's intensive care unit, Reed returns home and takes all her time to recover. Although she is already safe from the deathbed, the weight loss influencer reportedly began working on her health again and accepting new limitations.
In a statement to PEOPLE, Reed said she does not remember anything on that day. She purportedly learned that she was close to death only after her ventilator was taken off, and she woke up a week later.
"I don't even remember leaving the house. I'm just happy that I'm still alive because the emergency room told [her husband] Danny if he didn't bring me that day, I could have died," she said. "I can't believe that I just went from healthy and taking advantage of my life to this."
She also noted that she never realized one's health could turn that way immediately.
As of press time, Reed's one leg remains numb and swollen, keeping her from walking on her own. Her kidneys and liver also weakened following her recent hospitalization, prompting her to undergo dialysis three times a week for three and a half hours.
Before her admission, she managed to go to gyms and have walks. She also felt healthy in the days leading up. But one night, her kidneys started failing, causing her to end up in the hospital and be in a coma.
What Went Wrong on Lexi Reed's Health?
While trying to recover from what happened, Reed reportedly began seeing various doctors know what went wrong since she still does not know what caused her organs to fail.
Per Reed, she might need kidney and liver transplants because of the severity of her case, but she still hopes they will heal on their own.
Fortunately, she has her husband, who has been there for her, especially when she was in a life-and-death situation. However, she reportedly worries about being a burden to him.
"Thankfully Danny's here all the time, and he takes care of me, but even with that I feel bad. He has to take me to the bathroom and help me get comfortable and lift me if my leg falls out of the chair, because I literally can't lift it off the ground," she said.
Despite that, the weight loss remains positive, and hopeful she can come back healthy again soon.
