Zain Nadella, Satya Nadella and Anu's son, has died. He was 26.

The Microsoft CEO and his family mourn after Zain untimely died at a very young age. Bloomberg first reported the shocking news, saying that the CEO informed his executive staff that his son died on Monday.

The family asked the executives to include them in their thoughts and prayers as they grieve privately. A Microsoft spokesperson also confirmed the news to PEOPLE, saying that the family was left broken and devastated by Zain's passing.

Both news outlets did not reveal Zain Nadella's cause of death. But they reported that the 26-year-old had been born with cerebral palsy.

The CEO of Seattle Children's Hospital, Jeff Sperring, penned a message and shared it with Microsoft staff. He sent his message of condolences to the family and shared how bright Zain was before his death.

Zain Nadella Brought Hope to Family

When Nadella turned 24, his family shared $15 million to Seattle Children's Hospital. His parents also launched the Zain Nadella Endowed Chair in Pediatric Neurosciences to help the hospital's Center for Integrative Brain Research.

"As parents, our lives have been shaped by the needs of our children, and it is our hope that in honoring Zain's journey, we can improve and innovate care for future generations in every community," Anu said at that time.

Meanwhile, the Microsoft CEO has always been candid about the lessons his son taught.

In 2017, Satya told Good Housekeeping that things started to change soon after Zain arrived. His son reportedly shared an impact on how he leads and relates to people. He also shared a LinkedIn Post in 2017 where he called his son "the strength and warmth" who pushed the boundaries of what the technology could ever offer.

"[It] is why I am deeply committed to pushing the bounds on what love and compassion combined with human ingenuity and passion to have an impact can accomplish with my colleagues at Microsoft," Sarya went on.

His wife also shared the same sentiment, saying that their son showed strength and resilience, which inspired them.

Zain reportedly experienced asphyxiation in utero. He was also born weighing only three lbs. The cases seemingly contributed to his other health issues, including cerebral palsy, blindness, and spastic quadriplegia. The latter - according to Cerebral Palsy Guidance - is generally caused by brain damage before, during, and after birth.
