Shane Warne's Death: Elizabeth Hurley Expresses Heartbreak After Losing Ex-Fiance
Elizabeth Hurley, Shane Warner's ex-fiancée, expressed her heartbreak following the athlete's shocking death.
For Hurley, Warner's sudden death meant she lost her beloved lionheart, although they already called it quits years ago. After the cricketer's passing, the actress and her son, Damian Hurley, joined the world in remembering Warner's life through heartfelt messages.
The 56-year-old actress started her tribute by sharing several throwback pictures of herself and Warne when they were still together in the early 2010s. The photoset includes photos of them kissing and spending time together during the late sportsman's match.
"I feel like the sun has gone behind a cloud forever. RIP my beloved Lionheart @shanewarne23," Hurley captioned the post.
The "Royals" star also received support from her followers, who sent their love to the actress and Warner's bereaved family.
Meanwhile, Hurley's son, Damian, also showed his devastation after losing his father figure. He was only nine years old when his mother got engaged to the legendary cricket player in 2011.
"SW was a father figure to me for most of my formative years and was truly one the best men I've ever known. My heart is broken. Thinking of and sending love to all SW's family," Damian, who is now 19, wrote.
Hurley and Warne sparked romance buzzes in 2010 before the late athlete formally popped the question in 2011. They soon announced their engagement on Twitter but called it quits in 2013.
Although they broke up, they remained good friends in the years leading to Warne's death. In 2018, the cricketer even told The Mirror that he missed the love they had as the years he spent with Hurley were the happiest of his life.
What Happened to Shane Warne?
The mother and son tribute came after MPC Entertainment confirmed the heartbreaking news on Friday. It told CNN that the 52-year-old was found unresponsive inside his villa in Koh Samui, Thailand.
Herald Sun, via Fox Sports, also noted that Warne's close friend and associate Andrew Neophitou tried to revive him but failed. Meanwhile, a Thai International Hospital's staff told AFP that Warne's body was taken to their facility around 6:00 p.m. local time.
His company also mentioned that Shane Warne's cause of death is a suspected heart attack and that it occurred days after proclaiming he wanted to be fit again.
Warne officially retired from the sports in 2013, the same year he was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.
