Queen Elizabeth Leaving Buckingham Palace Permanently, Says Royal Source
Queen Elizabeth II has moved out of Buckingham Palace - permanently.
Buckingham Palace officially lost its heart as Queen Elizabeth II reportedly decided to move out of the castle for good.
Since 2020, Her Majesty has been staying at Windsor Castle due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially, royal fans assumed she would return to her home once the health crisis subsides. However, that does not seem to be the case anymore.
Multiple royal sources recently confirmed to different news outlets that the 95-year-old monarch would no longer return to the palace.
One source told Us Weekly that the Queen would make Windsor Castle her full-time home. Meanwhile, The Times UK revealed that her decision was based partly on the ongoing "reservicing of the palace."
But aside from that, Queen Elizabeth II reportedly wants to stay at Windsor because it is where she and Prince Philip stayed in his last days.
Royal author and deputy lord lieutenant of Berkshire Hugo Vickers said, "Windsor is the place she loves. She has her memories with Prince Philip there, she has her ponies there and family nearby. It makes sense."
A spokesman at Buckingham Palace is yet to comment on the report. But a royal source told PEOPLE that Buckingham Palace would remain the central base of the monarchy regardless of Queen Elizabeth II's preference.
Queen Elizabeth II's Latest Update
The revelation came after Queen Elizabeth II held her first in-person duty after recovering from COVID-19.
On Monday, she met with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at Windsor Castle. An exclusive photograph shared by Page Six showed the smiling monarch as she chatted with the 50-year-old Prime Minister.
A yellow and blue flower arrangement in the background also signaled her support for the UK amid Russian attacks.
Queen Elizabeth II reportedly suffered mild cold-like symptoms after testing positive for the virus. Still, she continued doing light duties while receiving medical attention and following COVID-19 guidelines.
Earlier this month, she reportedly felt better. Fortunately, she received her COVID-19 vaccination in 2021 and a booster shot before her positive result came out.
Meanwhile, Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, also contracted the virus recently. The Prince of Wales previously tested positive for the virus before catching it again.
