Leonardo DiCaprio offered massive support to Ukraine in the most subtle way.

Russia's attacks on Ukraine continue to claim the lives of innocent citizens, including children, since the Russian forces started a large-scale invasion on February 24.

One of the first Hollywood stars who extended their help to Ukraine was reportedly DiCaprio. The actor purportedly donated privately to humanitarian groups in the country, including CARE, IRC, UNHCR, and Save the Children.

However, a source close to the actor clarified to People that the actor does not have family ties to Ukraine. The "Don't Look Up" star also did not donate $10 million for Ukrainian military use.

"He had been watching things unfold and wanted to support Ukraine the best he could. He will continue to support the humanitarian groups on the ground which are helping the people of Ukraine," the insider said. "He stands with Ukraine and will continue to support."

As of press time, hundreds of civilians have already been reported dead or wounded, including young people. The United Nations also confirmed that more than a million Ukrainians had already fled from the country.

It remains unknown how much he cashed out to help the aforesaid humanitarian groups, but it was not the first time "The Wolf of Wall Street" launched a philanthropic move.

Leonardo DiCaprio's Philanthropy

On the United Nations website, the organization confirmed that the actor has been an advocate of different causes, especially for environmental issues.

In 1998, he dedicated an exclusive foundation he named after himself to support the organizations and initiatives related to the sustainable future of the planet.

The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation currently supports over 35 conservation projects around the globe.

The actor is also a board of multiple environment-related groups, including World Wildlife, Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), and the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW). While doing his works in the entertainment and film industry, he also serves as an advisor on The Solutions Project, an organization that aims to scale up the adoption of renewable energy around the globe.

Due to his philanthropic work, he received the prestigious Clinton Global Citizen Award in 2014.

In addition, the UN's secretary-general hailed him as a Messenger of Peace before the 2014 Climate Summit.

DiCaprio also applies his causes at his home as he owns environment-friendly electric-hybrid vehicles. His home is also powered by solar panels.
