Sued Brian Laundrie's Parents May Be Forced To Surrender THIS
Gabby Petito's parents are suing Brian Laundrie's parents, Chris and Roberta Laundrie.
It's also possible that the fugitive's parents will be obliged to hand over their cell phones as a result of this litigation.
Gabby's father, Joseph Petito, and mother, Nichole Schmidt, should focus on acquiring the Laundries' phones, according to criminal defense lawyer Josh Ritter.
Joseph and Nichole filed a civil complaint against Chris and Roberta last week, alleging that they knew Gabby's boyfriend murdered their daughter.
Now, Ritter, who is not related to or representing any of the families, has stated that if the Petito family wants the truth, they must collect the electronic devices from the Laundries.
He told The Sun that that is one of the things he would advise the Petitos to do.
Ritter supposedly knows what he's talking about, as his conviction rate is 90%.
He went on to say that people's pockets contain a wealth of information, including messages, emails, phone conversations, voicemails, location and purchase history, and much more.
Ritter feels that the cell phone contains all of the information Gabby's family requires to win this case.
Meanwhile, while Chris and Roberta Laundrie deny knowing anything about Gabby Petito's murder, a law expert claims that any indication will be difficult to conceal due to technological advances.
"But if evidence does exist - and you can imagine it may in the shape of text messages or emails - demonstrating that Laundrie's parents were aware of the murder and assisted their son in concealing evidence or evading capture, then the lawsuit would be on very solid footing," he continued.
According to Joseph and Nichole's lawsuit, Brian Laundrie told his parents what happened to Gabby "on or about" Aug. 28, just a day after her death.
The document reads, "it is suspected, and so averred, that [...] Brian Laundrie informed his parents, Christopher and Roberta Laundrie, that he had murdered Gabrielle Petito."
Brian Laundrie was reportedly killed by a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
His remains were discovered in October, only a month after Gabby Petito's body was discovered in a Wyoming camping area.
According to medical records, Gabby died as a result of strangling while on a cross-country van trip with Brian.
In addition to being strangled, the 22-year-old vlogger sustained blunt-force injuries to her neck and head.
A notebook was discovered alongside Brian's remains when they were discovered. He confesses to killing Gabby Petito in his writing.
