Justin Bieber Lawsuit: Singer Makes BIG Move After 2 Women Accused Him of Assault
Almost two years after two women accused Justin Bieber of sexual assault online, the singer filed a defamation lawsuit against the alleged accusers, but it seems like it won't be moving forward as he made a big move in court.
According to a court filing filed on Friday in Los Angeles Court, the "Stay" hitmaker's lawyers moved to voluntarily dismiss the lawsuit against an unnamed woman who identifies as "Danielle" and Khadidja Djibrine.
At the time of this writing, Hailey Bieber's husband and his legal team have not publicly commented on the matter.
Billboard reported that there's still no information whether there was a settlement between the two camps that opted him to drop the case or he wanted it to be dismissed.
What Happened Between Justin Bieber and His Alleged Accusers?
The "Feeling" singer filed a lawsuit against the two women in June 2020. The filing came days after taking their alleged stories on Twitter, saying Bieber had assaulted them in separate incidents.
Daniel and Khadidja alleged that the separate incidents happened in 2014 and 2015.
Bieber slammed the accusations, saying they are "malicious lies," and he even offered public alibis for the alleged incidents.
The singer is represented by Evan Spiegel and Marty Singer of the law firm Lavely & Singer, which later issued a statement, saying it's unclear that the two accusers are trying to "capitalize on the climate of fear permeating the entertainment industry."
Since the case was filed, there have been no updates about the two women as they failed to locate Danielle.
In February, lawyers for both camps told the court that mediation had been unsuccessful in reaching a settlement.
Khadidja Djibrine and Danielle's Online Allegations
According to Rolling Stone, Danielle took online on June 20, 2020, to claim that she had been sexually assaulted by the singer in a hotel located in Austin, Texas after he performed at South By Southwest in 2014.
However, Bieber's lawyers debunked the allegations, saying the singer never checked in the hotel, and he spent the night with Selena Gomez at a rental house elsewhere in the city.
"Bieber and Gomez were together, the entire night, at the Rental Property private residence, along with several of their friends," the lawyers said at the time.
On the other hand, Djibrine accused the "Boyfriend" hitmaker of assaulting her in New York City in March 2015.
The legal team also slammed the accusations, saying he never stayed at the hotel and presented photo evidence that he attended a Met Gala after-party during the alleged assault.
