Chris Rock allegedly received a standing ovation at his first comedy act after being slapped by Will Smith at the Oscars last Sunday.

As the Boston audience applauded, the comic admitted that he is "still absorbing" what had occurred to him.

Chris joked with the audience that he was becoming "misty and s--" before asking, "How was your weekend?"

Per Page Six, he said "I had an entire concert scheduled before this weekend. I'm still thinking about it."

The 57-year-old actor said he will ultimately talk about what occurred, but first he wanted to "make some jokes."

Chris Rock's gig on Wednesday night was sold out, and they were supposed to confiscate phones from the audience, but many were live-tweeting what he was saying.

One audience member cried that she should sue Will Smith, who smacked him hand-to-face for making a "G.I. Jane" joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

However, it was found that he isn't even thinking of suing the Best Actor winner.

Evaluation of Comedy Clubs Following Will's Slapping of Chris

In the aftermath of the horrifying assault on Chris, comedy clubs are apparently reassessing safety procedures; according to the Hollywood Reporter, venues throughout the country are reportedly considering installing even more security guards and metal detectors pre-show warnings in fear of copycat assaults.

Will Smith smacking Chris Rock was observed live by millions, according to Noam Dworman, owner of Comedy Cellar.

He believes that, despite the fact that they have had audience members who have been outraged by the jokes throughout the years, no one has ever been violent.

They would also be detaining an audience member who stormed the stage and would quickly contact the police to arrest them.

Will Smith Was Requested To Leave By The Academy But Refused

After slapping Chris Rock, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences requested Will Smith to leave the ceremony, but he allegedly refused.

"While we would want to emphasize that Mr. Smith was asked to leave the event and refused, we understand we might have handled the issue differently," the Academy said in a statement to the Associated Press said on Wednesday.

In the same statement, they apologized to Chris for what transpired on stage and commended him for his strength in the face of adversity, as well as the guests and viewers for what occurred during the event.

According to TMZ, when asked what steps they would take to remove Will, Academy President David Rubin declined to answer.
