Jada Pinkett Smith Triggered Will Smith?
It all started when Rock quipped about being excited to see Jada on "G.I. Jane 2" before presenting the Best Documentary Feature. It remains unknown whether the comedian knows about her hair loss condition, alopecia.
After cracking his joke, Smith appeared to laugh at the joke before seeing his wife roll her eyes and appear displeased. When he saw her reaction, that was when he walked up to the stage and committed the blunder.
Smith, still, stayed at the event and even tearfully accepted the award for Best Actor for his role as Richard Williams in the film "King Richard." After thanking the Academy and his fans, he apologized to everyone after slapping Rock.
"I know to do what we do, you gotta be able to take abuse and have people talk people about you. In this business, you gotta have people disrespecting you. And you gotta smile and pretend that's ok," he said.
He also took to Instagram and directly said his sorry to the comedian, saying that violence is "poisonous and destructive."
The Academy also addressed the issue in a statement, confirming that the team officially started a formal review surrounding the incident. Still, Chris has not commented on it yet but clarified he would not file a police report.
