Tony Hawk Shares Whether He Would Skateboard Again or Not After Dreaded Injury
Tony Hawk is not losing his hopes in skateboarding after suffering from an injury.
Three weeks after breaking his femur, Hawk shared a new update during the premiere of "Tony Hawk: Until the Wheels Fall Off" and told ET's Kevin Frazier that he does not plan to stop doing his hobby.
In fact, he is reportedly feeling pretty good weeks after breaking his femur.
According to
Hawk, his condition would surely lessen his public skateboarding, but it would not stop him from performing tricks again.
"If I'm able to stand on my own two feet, then I want to ride a skateboard. I might not be doing it in public so much going down the line. If I feel like my skills are truly fading then I won't be doing it on a public level or at an exhibition mode, but I don't make ultimatums," he said.
The 53-year-old noted that he is already 53 and before breaking his leg, he reportedly began skating better than ever. With that, he aims to at least get back again and try a level of skating soon.
Tony Hawk's Decision NOT Surprising
Commenting on Hawk's statement about not giving up on skateboarding, "Tony Hawk: Until the Wheels Fall Off" director Sam Jones said that he is not surprised that the skateboarder wants to try again.
"His brother said he's probably going to be the first 80-year-old to do a backside air, and I completely believe it. He just loves it so much," he said.
After seeing the documentary that Jones helmed, Hawk expressed how pleased he felt with the outcome.
He disclosed that the documentary would show the reality of what it truly takes for him to do skateboarding through the years. While he loves sports so much, Hawk said it always requires him to sacrifice something personally and professionally.
Throughout the making of the documentary, Hawk said he learned that it is okay to be vulnerable, and it is something he wishes he could tell his younger self.
Still, aside from skateboarding, the documentary tells Hawk's private life which would reportedly be an eye-opener to viewers. According to the director, the skateboarder is very hands-on in taking care of his family and being a good father. He added that the way he treats his family reflects on how he treats other skaters.
"Tony Hawk: Until the Wheels Fall Off" will be released on April 5.
