Meghan Markle 'Devastated' After Sudden Death of Friend Who Helped Her in the UK
Meghan Markle penned a heartbreaking message as she grieves the loss of her close friend in the UK, Oli Juste.
On Wednesday, the Duchess of Sussex shared how devastated she is by sharing a note on Mayhew's website. It is an animal welfare charity that Meghan previously chose to support as a royal patron. She revealed that she was introduced to the charity by the late animal behaviorist, Oli Juste.
"It has left me, and so many others, heartbroken and reflective-knowing that the legacy he leaves for our furry friends is beautifully simple: just love them," she wrote, revealing that her friend died in January.
The Duchess of Sussex mentioned throughout the letter how they worked together four years ago and how Juste became the expert in determining international work to keep animals safe.
Meghan and Juste were reportedly connected by their affection for animals, and the late staff even became her dog's companion. Juste and his fiancé, Rob, helped her to take care of her rescue dog, Guy, when she moved to the UK for the first time. Guy was still recovering from a debilitating accident, and the couple gave their all to make her dog feel loved.
Meghan Markle's Work With Mayhew Not Over
Mayhew's official Twitter account announced on Wednesday that its royal patronage with Meghan came to an end earlier this year. Despite that, she assured them that her support for the group's work has never wavered just like Juste's work
The Duchess of Sussex, in the end, said that his legacy would always stay at Mayhew.
"In his memory, we will be creating the Oli Juste wing at Mayhew, to shelter the animals who may have a harder time finding their forever homes," she said, as quoted by E!. "Because much like Oli, they will never be forgotten, and they will always be loved."
Meghan famously visited the organization in 2019 when she was pregnant with her son, Archie. She secretly visited them during her January 2020 visit to London.
On top of that, she chose to share the family's 2020 Christmas Card with Mayhew. It featured an illustration of a family photo which Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, took. Prince Harry, Archie, and their dogs - Pula and Guy - were in the photo.
