'Tales of the Walking Dead' Accident: Series Under Probe After Terrifying Mishap
"Tales of the Walking Dead" faced a tragic incident on set, prompting authorities to launch a probe.
On Monday, a female crew member of the spinoff reportedly suffered an incident after the filming had wrapped for the day. She reportedly fell from a riverboat before hitting the lower level rail. She then ultimately splashed into the lake at Stone Mountain Park.
According to Deadline, the female staff suffered from an unnamed injury, but it has been confirmed that she was transported to a hospital via ambulance and underwent surgery because of the mishap. She is now in a stable condition.
A marine safety crew was around the area when the incident took place, and they are now investigating what happened on the set.
The said crew member is also a member of the International Alliance Of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), a union that protects workers in the theater and entertainment industry.
Following the incident, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration also launched a probe into the accident, causing the filming to be halted on Tuesday. "Tales of the Walking Dead" only resumed its filming on Wednesday.
"OSHA initiated an investigation into this incident, and therefore we are unable to share anything further at this time," a US Labor Department representative said, per Daily Mail.
Not the First Accident?
The recent incident happened after the set of the franchise's main series also faced a similar event.
Last month, Norman Reedus sustained a head injury on the set of the hit series in Georgia. According to the actor's spokesperson, Jeffrey Chassen, Reedus suffered a concussion on set but assured the fans that the actor was recovering well and would return to work soon.
Chassen did not disclose further details about the injury - how and when exactly Reedus got it. Still, the injury was seemingly bad enough that he had to sit out himself on the Fandemic Tour.
"Due to unforeseen circumstances Nick Carter had to postpone due to scheduling conflicts, and Norman Reedus had to postpone due to an injury," the statement said. "We are sending all of our thoughts and positive energy to Norman Reedus. Everyone in our amazing community knows how much he loves his fans, and he wants you to know how terrible he feels about the situation."
"Tales of the Walking Dead" is set to premiere this year, and it will present star-studded cast including Parker Posey, Anthony Edwards, Poppy Liu, Terry Crews, and Samantha Morton.
