Taylor Swift's 2014 Hit 'Blank Space' Reaches All-Time Global Streaming High Today : Is There a Reason Why?
Taylor Swift : is a wizard
Today, eight years after the song's release, "Blank Space" has reached #107 on today's global Spotify chart with 967K streams. All of Twitter - nay all the world - is amazed at this turnaround.
No one is mad about it, but the question that continues to plague the populous at large is simply...why? (Other than it being an absolutely PHENOMENAL song.)
This spontaneous spike in listening time on this hit song has made it only her second song in 2022 to get to 100 million streams - the first being the 10 minute version of "All Too Well." This is truly a global phenomenon. According to some sources on Twitter, most of the listens are actually coming from outside of the United States.
The best part of all of this? There doesn't seem to be any real reason for the listen: Swift did not push the song. There has been no new release today. It's just a great song, and apparently the world is very much in the mood.
Twitter users have even commented on videos asking if there is a new trend, but even the deepest-digging of Swifties have assured us that there simply is not. A responder clarified, "Nope, just the song of the century doing normal numbers but still smash," with an apt gif of Swift looking *flawless*!
At the end of the day, no one really knows what is happening, but we are not mad about it. In fact, we are opening up Spotify right now to blast "Blank Space" on repeat!
