Sophie Turner Talks Growing Up In 'Game of Thrones:' How Did She Cope With the Darkness?
Sophie Turner had to find ways to cope with the heaviness of the plotlines she found herself thrown into in the hit HBO series Game of Thrones at a young age.

Turner's ages ranged from fifteen to twenty three during the running seasons of the show - but the talented actress says she found her own ways to cope with this professionally demanded darkness.
In an interview with Popsugar, Turner shared:
"The subject matter was so heavy that I just developed a coping mechanism of just having the most fun in between takes, so I wouldn't get traumatised.
"I'm sure I'll exhibit some symptoms of trauma down the road. At that age, I don't think I could comprehend a lot of the scene matter. And the first few years, I had my mom with me because she was chaperoning me, so she would be very helpful and give me snacks."
Similarly to her co-star Maisie Williams, who played Sansa's sister Arya Stark, growing up on a show like Game of Thrones was a uniquely trying experience. While both say they loved their time on the show, it made it more difficult for the two to discover in their early years who they really were.
"For ten years, I felt like I needed to be the person that everyone else saw because I was growing up and I didn't know anything else...Other than the character that I was playing in Game of Thrones and then other people's perceptions of me, I didn't have time to figure out who I was as a person."
Now Turner is married to Joe Jonas, and the happy couple are expecting their second child. We can't wait to see what incredible things Turner does going forward.
