Raven-Symone Gay: 'The Cosby Show' and 'That's So Raven' Actress Comes Out As Lesbian, 'I Can Finally get Married'
Raven- Symone, who played Olivia on The Cosby Show and Raven on Disney's That's So Raven, announced for the first time today that she's a lesbian.
"I am very happy that gay marriage is opening up around the country and is being accepted," the actress said in a statement through her representatives, CNN reported on August 2.
"I was excited to hear today that more states legalized gay marriage. I, however am not currently getting married, but it is great to know I can now, should I wish to," the former child star said.
Symone took to Twitter to share her excitement. This morning she tweeted, "I can finally get married! Yay government! So proud of you."
In response to the many questions after the tweet her representatives clarified that the star is not getting married, but was just supporting the fact that she hear on NPR that today more stages legalized gay marriage, CNN reported.
This is not the first time the actress's sexual orientation has been a topic of conversation.
In May 2012 the star tweeted, "My sexual orientation is mine, and the person I'm datings to know. I'm not one for a public display of my life."
She also tweeted in May 2012, "I'm living my PERSONAL life the way I'm happiest. I'm not one, in my 25 year career to disclose who I'm dating. and I shall not start now."
