Will Smith Calls Himself a ‘Coward’ After Failing To Do THIS
Will Smith tagged himself as a coward as he failed to do something for his family before his recent Oscars gaffe.
Smith infamously tarnished his name and legacy when he slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars 2022 after the comedian joked about Jada Pinkett Smith's shaved head.
Rock already revealed that he would not joke about it if he knew about Pinkett Smith's alopecia. Meanwhile, the "King Richard" actor offered a public apology but has not personally said his sorry to Rock.
But before the blunder happened, Smith already called himself a "coward" after failing to protect his mother in the past.
Will Smith Called Out Himself During Newly-Released Interview
On Friday, Smith's episode on the Season 4 of Netflix's "My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman" finally aired, showing the actor having an intimate talk with David Letterman.
During the discussion, he spoke about his life and career, including a heartbreaking moment he had with his mother, Caroline Bright.
Per the "Gemini Man" actor, he had always seen himself as a coward as he witnessed his father abuse his mother when he was a child, and he failed to protect her.
Due to that event, Smith decided to have a playful and positive image on and off the cam.
"When I showed up, I wanted people to feel good and be happy," he said, as quoted by E! News. "Because I found that when my household was that way, I felt safe."
Smith also jokingly threw a punch when Letterman referenced his mother, telling him not to say anything about his mother.
Will Smith Destroyed His Life
Elsewhere in the interview, Smith added that he instantly destroyed his life when he took ayahuasca.
According to the Alcohol and Drug Foundation, it is a plant-based psychedelic that affects a person's senses and alters their thinking, emotions, and sense of time. It can also cause hallucinations.
"Once you drink it you're going to see yourself in a way you've never seen yourself. One of the experiences was the individual most hellish psychological experience of my life. I drank, and it usually takes about 45 minutes to kick in. And I'm sitting there and you always feel like, 'Maybe it won't kick in this time,'" he told Letterman.
When he stopped taking it, Smith reportedly realized that he could handle anything in his life.
Will Smith's interview with David Letterman was filmed before the 2022 Oscars.
