Ellen DeGeneres Has Unexpected Reaction After Ending Show Due to Damaging Allegations
Ellen DeGeneres freely talked about her show and the reaction she had after deciding to end it for good.
After 19 seasons, "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" will take a bow this year after DeGeneres decided to leave the show.
As for her reaction after doing it, she told The Hollywood Reporter that she cried every day for months as it was not an easy choice to make for her. Still, she reminded herself that it was the right choice for herself and the show after all.
"We're reminded every single day of what's going on in the world, from a sick family member to wars and fires and global warming. There are so many different things that make you sad," she went on.
DeGeneres added that she knew it was time for her to end the chapter to do something different. Still, she became very emotional, especially in her last two weeks.
In pursuit of giving happiness instead, she worked hard to make "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" final weeks not become somber. That way, the audience could have pure fun, as well.
Ellen DeGeneres Suffered Anxiety, Depression
Elsewhere in the interview, DeGeneres spoke up about her struggles with anxiety and depression and the importance of having an escape.
She explained that she felt overwhelmed with the different things that made her sad.
DeGeneres seemingly directed her next statement at the toxic workplace allegations that she eventually touched on the scandal. Although she did not speak exactly about the situation, she ultimately offered her thoughts about it.
"There was a lot that happened during that time that was unfortunate, but it is what it is - you go through stuff in life and you just keep learning and growing," she went on.
A BuzzFeed News report about the toxic workplace of the show ignited the end of the show.
Previously, the three senior execs sent a statement that contains their reaction to the allegations made by current and former employees. The staff accused them of creating a "toxic work environment" based on bullying and fear.
"We are truly heartbroken and sorry to learn that even one person in our production family has had a negative experience," the statement read. "It's not who we are and not who we strive to be, and not the mission Ellen has set for us."
DeGeneres, on the other hand, got accused of bullying her staff members and some guests on her show.
