Amber Heard’s Witness Dr. David Spiegel Suffers After Defending Actress – OP-ED Here
Amber Heard's witness, Dr. David Spiegel, also faced the public's wrath over his testimonies against Johnny Depp during the defamation trial.
Dr. Spiegel, the psychiatrist who testified for Heard, received the most spotlight on the witness stand due to the statements he outed about Depp. As a result, he penned an op-ed in Newsweek, titled, "I Testified in the Heard vs. Depp Trial. The Backlash Has Been Horrific."
According to the psychiatrist, he provides medical malpractice expert witness testimony. However, in his 30 years of experience, he has never done it in a high-profile trial except in the Depp-Heard case.
He then prepared himself in the past three years and initially thought that the defamation trial would be a close one. As it ended up being a televised event, Dr. Spiegel received condemnations that were "a little hurtful" to his side.
"I deal with people for a living, so I tried to understand where people were coming from. It's what a psychiatrist does. But the comments below the YouTube videos of me have been vile. And, some people have access to my work email, so I've gotten four or five charming editorials about myself," he said.
The psychiatrist added that his WebMD page received fake reviews after his testimony.
Amber Heard NOT Helping Him After Repercussion?
In the same op-ed, Dr. Spiegel revealed that the "Aquaman" actress has not said anything about the negative issues he has been suffering. Still, he says that Heard is "the most vulnerable person" following her defeat.
While he should have received aid, he chose to blame Depp instead as the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor could have purportedly tempered his fans' behavior.
"While I still feel this intervention would be welcomed, his fans may be 'disarmed' by the verdict in his favor," he said, adding, "Never in my life have I been the target of such voluminous amounts of hate, ever. I will process the emotion, but it will always be there; the knowledge that I was on the receiving end of such venom."
Dr. Spiegel went on to reveal that he received derogatory mail at work and a rude phone call that his staff received. Due to these, he fears that there might be some impact on him professionally.
He claimed during the defamation trial that Depp showed signs of impairment due to his drug and alcohol abuse. The psychiatrist also noted that the actor's use of earpiece for lines during filming could prove his claims.
