Amber Heard GoFundMe Page NOT For Debts: Fans Want Her Honor Back?
Amber Heard received massive support from fans as they launched another GoFundMe page for her.
Heard's fans tried to clear her name by helping her to pay off her debt to Johnny Depp after losing the defamation trial. The first GoFundMe page has since been suspended, but they came up with another way to reclaim her honor.
On GoFundMe, Heard's fan, Kylie Putnam, launched a fundraiser to show their love and support for the "Aquaman" actress. The "Donate to the NCADV in Amber Heard's Honor" already has 62 donors, as of press time.
It now has $1,676 donations from Heard's supporters, only few hundreds away from its $2,000 goal.
"The world's response to Amber Heard not only hurts Amber but survivors everywhere. The message is clear: 'This is what happens when you speak out.' As a survivor and as a human being, this breaks my heart. It makes me sick. It makes me angry. It makes me want to do something, not only for Amber Heard, but for all survivors," the description says.
Putnam explained that the GoFundMe page to donate to the NCADV in Heard's honor would remind everyone that there are people who stand with the actress.
With that, the organizer asked everyone to make donations to the non-profit organization for the victims and survivors of domestic violence.
Amber Heard's 1st GoFundMe Was Snubbed
Before the fundraiser for NCADV was launched, Heard's fans first launched a $1 million fundraiser, which the website eventually removed.
A news outlet, per Insider, noted that the fundraiser went live after Heard lost the defamation trial against Depp. Fans created it in pursuit of helping her after the jury awarded Depp $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages - although the latter was reduced to $350,000 due to the state's statutory cap or legal limit.
The fundraiser, titled "Justice for Amber Heard," called the trial a disgrace while accusing the social media of protecting the abuser.
Since the amount exceeded Heard's net worth, the fans asked everyone to help her financially through the page.
However, the GoFundMe was flagged and removed before being able to get a substantial amount of money.
"[GoFundMe] will remove any fundraisers unless there's a direct connection and the fundraiser has been authorized by the recipient of the funds," a representative said. "[Our] top priority is to keep our community safe and protect the generosity of our donors."
