'Jeopardy!' Eyeing To Make One of THESE People the Show's Permanent Host
"Jeopardy!" has been searching for the perfect host to replace Alex Trebek after his tragic passing. While doing so, it hailed several guest hosts until the show decided to stick with Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik.
Still, the duo has yet to score the title of a permanent host, but the position might be filled soon.
Variety reported that "Jeopardy!" executive producer Michael Davies said during the 2022 Daytimes Emmy that they are close to naming the permanent host to continue Trebek's legacy.
"We hope to have a hosting announcement very, very soon. But with all of our plans for 'Jeopardy!' - which is more 'Jeopardy!,' not less, more versions -we're going to need multiple hosts to represent the entire audience, to represent the entire country, in order to take this franchise forward," he said.
He also disclosed that they might pick a potential permanent host between Bialik and Jennings as they have done an incredible job in hosting the long-running show. Davies also mentioned the show's biggest winners who could also possibly snatch the crown, including Ryan Long, Amy Schneider, Mattea Roach, and Matt Amodio.
"Jeopardy!" might need a permanent host real soon as ABC announced its full-packed schedule in 2022 fall, and it includes a spinoff "Celebrity Jeopardy!"
Originally, its former executive producer Mike Richards was tapped to become the permanent replacement. But the plans changed after he was ousted due to several issues.
For what it's worth, it was revealed that he offered offensive jokes during his stint in "The Randumb Show" podcast as a co-host. At that time, he said that the women's Halloween costumes looked like prostitutes.
Suzanne Prete, EVP of business and strategy, also confirmed the former EP's exit from "Wheel of Fortune."
Ken Jennings Ranks 1st on List of Best People To Replace Alex Trebek
Although Jennings has been absent for months, many "Jeopardy!" fans have been wanting to see him behind the podium since he guest-hosted the show.
He became the first guest host years after winning the "Jeopardy! Greatest of All Time" episode.

According to The Wrap, he invited an average of 10.3 million viewers throughout his six-week hosting stint. He managed to maintain a 6.2 rating in his first week. It was only a 0.4 difference compared to Trebek's final rating.
"Stepping in as a guest host was incredibly humbling, emotional, and a lot of fun. It will forever be the honor of my life," he said on the "Jeopardy!" website.
