Fans of Von Dohlen, "Twin Peaks" actor, are grieving after news about his passing emerged. Multiple news outlets, including The Hollywood Reporter and USA Today, received a statement from the actor's longtime manager, Steven J. Wolfe.
According to Wolfe, the 64-year-old "Electric Dreams" star died after a long illness. He did not reveal what exact disease the actor suffered from.
Von Dohlen's sister, Catherine, also delivered the heartbreaking update on Facebook, confirming that the actor died Friday morning.
"The world lost a magnificent man on July 5. Brother Len was passionate about everything and everyone. He was always leading; whether it be a riveting conversation, an artistic creation, or a trip to new places. He loved a good laugh. He continues on his spiritual journey. Living a life full in his memory," she wrote.
Meanwhile, fans also expressed their heartbreaks online following Von Dohlen's passing. They wrote heartfelt tributes as they remembered his life as an actor and loving family member.
One said, "We're sorry to inform you about the loss of Lenny Von Dohlen, a true Twin Peaks Legend. His performance as the orchid-loving agoraphobic Harold Smith touched the hearts of Twin Peaks fans."
Lenny Von Dohlen's Acting Career
Von Dohlen famously made his acting debut through the television film "Kent State." He also starred in "Tender Mercies," where he played a small role.
His notable acting eventually led him to get his big break in "Electric Dreams," playing the role of Miles Harding.
Years later, he landed Harold Smith's role in the sophomore season of "Twin Peaks." The actor continuously appeared in the franchise's flicks, including in the episodes of the series and feature "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me" in 1992.
Von Dohlen collected several titles under his belt, starring in "Don't Touch," "The Pretender," "CSI: Miami," "The Lazarus Man," "Picket Fences," "Billy Galvin," "Beautiful Loser," "One Good Turn," and "Leaving Normal."
Before his death, he worked in the upcoming indie comedy "Sallywood," now in post-production alongside Sally Kirkland, Keith Carradine, and Jennifer Tilly.
Outside the TV and film industry, Von Dohlen also spent most of his years working in regional theaters. According to his manager, the theater was the actor's first love.
