Jurickson Profar suffered injuries after he collided with his teammate during a recent game.

The official Twitter account of the San Diego Padres confirmed the terrifying occurrence in a tweet, saying that Profar sustained injuries following the crash.

"Medical update: Jurickson Profar has been diagnosed with a concussion and a cervical (neck) strain. He was discharged from the hospital overnight and is currently resting. We will continue to provide updates on his status when possible," it said.

The 29-year-old violently bumped into CJ Abrams during Padres' game against the San Francisco Giants at Petco Park in San Diego on Thursday.

Yahoo Sports also released a detailed report. According to the news outlet, Abrams was running at full speed to attempt to catch a fly ball at the top of the fifth inning. However, he hit Profar while the player worked on the left field.

Viral videos of the accident have been reuploaded to social media outlets. They show Abram's knee crashing into Profar's jaw as he tries to catch the ball.

Profar tried to stand on his own after the collision and walked to the dugout. However, he suddenly collapsed on the field, prompting his teammates to run to him. He was eventually carried on a stretcher and rushed to a nearby hospital.

San Diego Padres Manager Takes Away Fans' Concerns

Padres' manager, Bob Melvin, faced the reporters after the event. Per ESPN, he revealed that Profar assured everyone he was okay by smiling at them while he was on a stretcher.

"Any time you put somebody on a stretcher like that, it's an awful feeling, but like I said just looking at him and the way he is and trying to make everybody feel okay about it with a smile on his face makes you feel a little bit better," he went on.

Despite the unfortunate event, Padres still won the game in 10 innings with a 2-1 score. They will face the Giants on Friday, and Profar might sit out from the games in the meantime.

Meanwhile, fans expressed their concerns as Padres allowed him to walk despite his injuries. They also sent him well wishes after the incident.

One fan said, "I'm alarmed that the Padres allowed Jurickson Profar to move a muscle let alone stand up after an injury like that. It also took forever for the injury cart to come out. Not a great look."
