Britney Spears is so thankful to have Selena Gomez, age 29, as a friend. At least that is what most fans made of her post comparing the star to her mother no less. Given how Britney Spears feel about her mom though, which she never tried to hide ever since her conservatorship ended, was she being sarcastic and making a rude comment about Selena Gomez after all?

The pop star, 40, thanked Selena for attending her recent wedding to Sam Asghari, 28, along with guests Drew Barrymore and Paris Hilton, by posting a photo from a photoshoot including the "The Heart Want it Wants" singer.

A bit weirdly, she also raised her mom in the post, and even called her supportive, a far cry from how she usually described her mother.

"She came to my wedding," Britney began, referencing Selena, before shouting out Drew and Paris, as well. "The three most beautiful women in hollywood ... @drewbarrymore, @parishilton," she said of the famous trio of guests. There was one twist, though: Brit revealed she didn't actually know that they would be among the 60 guests at the intimate Thousand Oaks, California affair, held on June 9.

"I had no idea !!! I was SO HAPPY !!!" she exclaimed of the surprise. Back to Selena, though, Britney went on to detail a special conversation that the two former Disney stars had at the reception - even comparing Sel to her mother Lynn Spears. "[Selena] told me 'I just want you to be happy' three times ... My mother does that as well ... It was so cool she was able to get to me and share her thoughts," she said in the caption.

One can remember exactly how Britney Spears took her mom's "I want her to be happy" comment following the wedding and it was not good.

Britney Spears lashed out at her mother, Lynne Spears, after the matriarch begged for her to "be happy" after years of familial strife.

"Hi ... Am I happy enough mamma ???" the "I'm a Slave 4 U" singer, 40, captioned an Instagram video of herself kissing her husband, Sam Asghari, while boarding a private plane with their puppy on Friday.

She then added, "What's the serious talk for ??? Lighten up ladies ... we're on the same side ... remember ???"

The film appeared to be a direct response to remarks Lynne, 67, made to a photographer last week as she was departing LAX.

When asked whether she had "any words of wisdom" for her elder daughter, the author of "Through The Storm" said, "I just want her to be happy."

The mom didt not appear offended by Britney's response, as seen by the fact that she "liked" the Instagram post.

Therefore, while it's nice that she's placing an appreciation post for Selena Gomez a month after her wedding, it still raises some serious wonder.
