Johnny Depp Fans Question Amber Heard's Finances After Launching Appeal But Couldn't Pay Insurance
Amber Heard is not done fighting ex-husband Johnny Depp in court, as she and her legal team filed a request to appeal the defamation trial verdict.
A Virginia jury determined that the "Aquaman" actress' Washington Post op-ed defamed Depp and awarded him $15 million in damages.
The judgment also stated that remarks made by Depp's former lawyer in 2020 were defamatory to Heard, and she was granted $2 million in damages.
However, the mother-of-legal one's team swiftly stated that she would be unable to pay the astronomical sum. But she has already filed a request to appeal the conviction, and fans are only interested in one thing: how is Amber Heard going to pay for all of this?
One of Heard's reps told TMZ that they believe the court "made mistakes" that prevented her from receiving a "fair verdict consistent with the First Amendment."
"As a result, we are appealing the decision. While we recognize that today's submission may spark a Twitter firestorm, we must take actions to assure fairness and justice."
Amber Heard filed a motion in Fairfax County Circuit Court, claiming that the decision was flawed and blaming the court for its error, per the Daily Mail.
Heard had already attempted to avoid a mistrial by blaming the court for introducing an alternate jury member.
Unfortunately, it was denied, and the court mentioned several details about the jury's neutral positions.
Meanwhile, Johnny Depp's legal team clarified their position on the motion, saying in a statement that they listened to "extensive evidence" presented during the six-week trial "and came to a clear and unanimous verdict that the defendant herself defamed" the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor multiple times.
However, as previously said, some are asking where Amber Heard is obtaining her money for this, as filing a motion would cost a lot of money.
One Twitter user stated that "Why couldn't Amber Heard afford to pay the charity if she could afford an appeal (even without the bond)? Is her insurance still covering the malice claim? And why, if she only wanted to move on, is she the one who isn't?"
Another Twitter user suggested that Heard be imprisoned for perjury since she "lies about everything" and "stiffed the poor and dying children of the LA Children's Hospital."
"But she has insurance money to pay for her appeal? Which is more important?"
A third individual tweeted, "Due to 'willful conduct,' an insurance company is suing to be relieved of almost $8 million in legal expenses... An appeal was filed today, which might take a year or more to resolve... So, where is Amber Heard's money coming from?"
A fourth individual suggested, "Here's an original thought! Recognize what we already know, ask for forgiveness, and then get on with your life! Put an end to this insanity."
