#JohnnyDeppIsAWifeBeater Trends As Amber Heard's Supporters Continue To Defend 'Aquaman' Star
Johnny Depp has been subject to scrutiny launched by Amber Heard's supporters.
As Depp and Heard are yet to finalize their legal battle, their fans continuously exchange harsh words online against the two celebrities.
Most recently, the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor and his fans were criticized online under the #JohnnyDeppIsAWifeBeater hashtag.
On Twitter, users who support Heard condemned the actor and his fans, saying that the recent verdict did not resonate with the result of the UK trial.
One said, "She was cross examined in the UK by Depps legal team. It was determined with overwhelming evidence that it is true that Depp abused Amber in at least 12 incidents of violence. This is a fact. You don't have to like it. #JohnnyDeppIsAWifeBeater."
Another shared a screenshot of an alleged Google search in which the user typed "wifebeater actor" with Johnny Depp's image appears under the results page.
For what it's worth, Depp lost his case against The Sun. He filed a libel lawsuit against The Sun for publishing a 2018 article that named him a "wife-beater."
Depp and Heard appeared during the 16-day trial at the Royal Courts of Justice in London and exchanged damning evidence against each other. The two also unrolled their own versions of abuse and physical alteration that happened between them from 2013 to 2016.
In the end, he lost it and has since been tagged as a wife beater.
"The claimant [Depp] has not succeeded in his action for libel ... The defendants [the Sun and News Group Newspapers] have shown that what they published in the meaning which I have held the words to bear was substantially true," Judge Justice Nicol released the most awaited verdict through a 129-page ruling.
Per Judge Nicol, he ended up with the conclusion after a thorough examination of the 14 abuse incidents.
Out of the said 14 assaults, he found 12 of which true.
Johnny Depp VS Amber Heard's Latest Legal Issue
The recent online outrage came out after Camille Vasquez appeared in an interview with Gayle King on "CBS Mornings."
Vasquez said that they would not be seeking to appeal if Heard did not challenge the recent jury verdict.
"We did. Mr. Depp filed his own appeal so the court could have the full record. And - she insists on continuing to litigate this matter, and we have to protect our client's interest," she said, as quoted by ET Online. "We are just hopeful that the court will uphold the verdict, which we think was the right verdict, and allow both parties to move on."
The star lawyer said that they aim to protect the "Edward Scissorhands" actor's interests so they responded to the appeal with another appeal.
