With Warner Bros under a new corporate strategy and films getting cancelled, the sequel to "The Batman" is yet to receive an official green light from Warner Bros. Discovery.

This year's "The Batman", which released on March 4, was a huge hit earlier this year, hitting number one at the box office for several weeks and crossing the $300 million mark in North America. The movie grossed over $750 million before it began streaming on HBO Max.

Considering how well "The Batman" delivered, the interest in this new world created by director Matt Reeves also gave birth to two potential HBO Max spin-offs, which will be focused on Colin Farrell's as the Penguin and Arkham Asylum. However, since Warner Bros. Discovery had "restructured" to create a team with a "10-year plan focusing just on DC", it has become a waiting game to see if these stories will make it or not.

While fans are hyped to see Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne again, it looks like it is not happening for a long while. The latest reports on the status of many DC projects have suggested that "The Batman" sequel is yet to start production.

The New Warner Bros' 10-year DC Plan

Since the recent shifting of Warner Bros. Discovery's strategy, which is said to now include a 10-year plan for the future of the DC franchise, the movie still appears to be waiting for the final go ahead.

In the recent Warner Bros. Discovery Earnings call, it was discussed how the new company strategy for the DCEU is about protecting the franchise and setting up a long-term future.

Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav explained: "We have done a reset. We've structured the business. There will be a team with a 10-year plan focusing just on DC. It's very similar to the structure that Alan Horne and Bob Iger put together very effectively with Kevin Feige at Disney. We think we could build a long-term, much more sustainable growth business out of DC, and as part of that, we're going to focus on quality. We're not going to release any film before it's ready... The focus is going to be, how do we make each of these films, in general, as good as possible? DC is something we can make better, and we're focused on it now."

Other DC titles that have been axed or shelved include "Batgirl" and the DC anthology series "Strange Adventures".
