Ed Sheeran gives his reaction to the news that Britney Spears and Elton John will be releasing a song together which entitles the "Hold Me Closer."

The "Shape of You" singer took to Instagram to share his excitement towards the upcoming song by Spears and John.

In the IG story of the star, he featured a snippet of the song with a text, "Can't wait for this!" and under the statement are the usernames of the singers as Sheeran tagged them and a word, "friday!"

It comes after Elton John posted on his Instagram account about the release date of the collab song with Spears as he shared two photos.

The first one is the collage picture of the "Toxic" singer which appears to be on the left side and the "Cold Heart" singer which appears to be on the right.

The collaged snaps are the younger versions of the singers and then when swipe left, the not so old version of the "Hold Me Closer" singers.

The caption of John reads: "August 26 #HoldMeCloser" though originally, the song was supposedly released on August 19 but was postponed.

Metro stated that the "Hold Me Closer" song which is said to be the "refashioning" of John's 1971 hit song "Tiny Dancer" was leaked on social media on a Thursday night which garnered different reactions from fans.

Fans of the "Gimme More" singer said that the "leaking" of the song incident was disrespectful." One fan expressed anger to the incident saying it is ruining the release of Spears' first single as "free" woman after the conservatorship battle.

Another fan shared a reaction to the leaked song saying,"I'm so tempted to go find the Hold Me Closer leak but I want to respect both Britney & Elton, I've been waiting for this moment for almost six years."

But one fan tweets about knowing who is the possible mastermind behind the "leak song" incident which he said that he did a back-trace on the username of the person who leaked the "Hold Me Closer" snippets and found out it was HER," referring to Spears sister, Jamie Lynn.

Meanwhile, the "Hold Me Closer" collab song of the two artists will also mark Spears first new material since 2016 album after 13 year conservatorship battle with her family.
