Warner Bros Discovery plans to officially close the chapter on the unreleased "Batgirl" by holding a private "funeral screening" for cast and crew members.

Recently, we learned from the controversial interview of duo directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah that Warner Bros had blocked the whole crew from access to the film's footage. Now, it looks like they'll be able to watch the movie on the big screen, but for the last time.

Multiple insiders reported to The Hollywood Reporter that Warner Bros' is planning to host a "funeral screening" for cast and crew members to watch the unfinished film for the first and last time.

One of the sources described the term "funeral screenings" as a planned event "held before the film is sent off to an undisclosed afterlife, with footage locked away in a vault, either physical or digital."

Warner Bros Did it For the Money

It comes as no surprise that DC films are raising headlines nowadays with the recent merging of Warner Bros and Discovery, as CEO David Zaslav has already expressed their 10-year DC plan. "Batgirl" production had cost a whopping budget of 90 million dollars, which Warner Bros is reportedly scrapping to obtain a tax write-down to save their budget.

"Several sources suggested that Warners might make the drastic move of actually destroying its Batgirl footage as a way to demonstrate to the IRS that there will never be any revenue from the project, and thus it should be entitled to the full write-down immediately." According to THR.

Fans 'Cope' Through Twitter

Amidst the controversies surrounding Warner Bros Discovery, fans are still pushing to have the shelved film see the light of day by having #ReleaseBatgirl trending as their own protest and support for the crew. Meanwhile, some fans have taken to Twitter to cope by clowning the recent questionable decisions of the studio by bringing up their unacknowledged issue from "The Flash" star Ezra Miller.

As of now, no other details regarding "Batgirl"s funeral screening have been disclosed and no representatives from Warner Bros have given any comment. However, "Scoob! Holiday Haunt" reportedly had its own private screening to cast and crew members last week.
