James Brolin 'Unusual' Workout, Diet: How Actor Maintains Youthful Look at 82 Revealed

Fans surely cannot believe that Brolin is now 82 years old as the actor remains in great shape compared to others of the same age. For those who have been curious about his secret, the "Catch Me If You Can" star finally unveiled his regime in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE.
During a lunch with the news outlet near his Malibu home, the actor recalled his meeting with surfer Laird Hamilton - who taught him the unusual water workouts that helped him to be in great shape.
According to the "Lightyear" voice actor, he met Hamilton and Gabby Reese during a party of his friend. At that time, Brolin was already feeling down about his appearance and body. Thus, he was already aiming to change his fitness routine and diet.
"Laird said, 'Why don't you come on up to the pool and work out with us on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday?' So I went, 'Yeah, okay, great.' I didn't," he said.
But one day, Brolin reportedly changed his mind and tried the regime. From there, he started doing the workout routines regularly and even took it to the next level by using weights.
Although he found it hard at first to the point that he almost gave up, the actor trusted Laird and the unique aquatic plan.
Brolin then revealed how he made sure to progress in the routine, saying that he started at 10 lbs. before moving to 15 lbs. He then started lifting 20 lbs. before swimming with a weight.
After going through it, the "Capricorn One" actor noticed his massive transformation inside and out. That explains why he began to look better and younger again.
On top of the workout, he also gets rid of extra fats in his body by staying in the sauna at his home for 40 minutes, three times a week.

Aside from his workout routine, Brolin also has a healthy diet to complete his health journey.
He revealed that he always opts for Greek salad or Mediterranean salad with cheese on it. These types of salads are low-calorie but nutrient-dense types of diet. These help Brolin to reduce the risk of having health problems, like heart disease and cancer, which are common to people his age.
At the end of the day, he is no longer afraid to splurge as Brolin will reportedly lose the weight again after a few workouts and a diet.
