A new Star Wars television series may be coming to ABC.

When Disney purchased the Star Wars franchise last October, the company announced there would be a new film trilogy as well as a theme park. There are now talks of a new Star Wars TV series for Disney's ABC network. Disney's president Pau Lee said company's executives are looking into the prospect of bringing the sci-fi series to fans' living rooms.

"I certainly have a glint in my eye," said Lee. "They have a lot on their plate when you look at the features that they're planning on rolling out for the next few years, but we've started conversations with them."

Disney already has plans to release the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII in 2015, while the other two films in the trilogy are scheduled to hit theatres two years apart from each preceding movie. In the meantime, Star Wars Rebels, a new animated series, is in the works for the Disney XD channel.

Theme Park Insider reported in June that an entire Star Wars Land will be featured at Walt Disney World's Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Fla. The website credited multiple sources as the basis of their report. The theme park is projected to take five years to be built, giving it a tentative 2018 opening date, though the website reported there is a possibility the attraction could be ready a year earlier.

Theme Park Insider notes Disney's competitor, Universal Orlando, has enjoyed a lot of growth, which Disney would love to combat. Universal has a successful Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park and the company has plans for the near future that include the addition of Transformers: The Ride, a Simpsons-themed area opening soon and a major expansion to Harry Potter next year.
