Will Henry Cavill Continue Playing Superman Role in DC Movies? Actor Shares Good News!
Henry Cavill revealed his plans as Superman in the DC Extended Universe - and no one is surprised about it.
Fans have been asking whether Cavill will return as Superman after appearing in the recent superhero film, "Black Adam." While others think his future remains unclear, the actor ended the years-long of speculation and confirmed he would be back as Superman.
On his Instagram, the actor shared a video of him saying that "the dawn of hope" has been renewed.
"I wanted to wait until the weekend was over before posting this because I wanted to give you all a chance to watch Black Adam. Now that plenty of you have wanted me to make it official: I am back as Superman. What you saw in Black Adam is just a very small taste of things to come," he revealed.
Cavill thanked his fans for waiting for the announcement and supporting him while things were still finalized.
It remains unknown when the film will be released, but it will serve as his first solo Superman film since his "Man of Steel" in 2013.
The news confirmed the extension of Cavill's journey in the DCEU. Zack Snyder first tapped him into the role in 2010. The actor graced the franchise starting with "Man of Steel" and appeared in more DCEU films like "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice," "Justice League," "Zack Snyder's Justice League," and "Black Adam."
Cavill's announcement came after he told The Hollywood Reporter in 2021 that "the cape is still in the closet," expressing his desire to return and wear his suit. He also opened up about having a lot of storytelling to do as the titular superhero.
Henry Cavill's Return Dismisses Retirement Rumors
Before Cavill delivered the good news, there had been reports that Superman would retire.
Sources close to Warner Bros. claimed that the actor exited the role because the studio aimed to introduce Supergirl in the movie universe.
There were also talks that Cavill decided to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe after the end of his stint in the DCEU. Per HypeBeast, the actor visited Marvel's offices in London as he discussed the possibility of appearing in the MCU.
At that time, fans speculated he would be part of "Loki" and "WandaVision." But after the flicks have been aired, the rumors were dismissed as Cavill - even his shadow - were not shown in them.
