Did Meghan Markle Skip 'Suits' Reunion At Golden Globes? Gina Torres Has This To Say
Meghan Markle was noticeably missing from the reunion of her "Suits" co-stars at the Golden Globes.
Patrick J. Adams, Gina Torres, Sarah Rafferty and Gabriel Macht shared the stage to present the Best TV Drama at the event. Rick Hoffman and Markle were noticeably missing.
An unnamed source told Page Six she was invited to join her "Suits" co-stars in presenting the award. However, she was reportedly not available.
"We asked the duchess, but we were told that, unfortunately, she had a previous commitment," a Globes insider said.
Torres was also asked about Markle in an interview with Variety. The interviewer remarked that wherever he looked, there was a star from "Suits." He asked if they planned it and if they were texting each other.
"When it all came through, we were all texting each other. Yes, our text thread is insane right now. So it's very exciting," Torres answered.
"Who texted Meghan and said, 'You gotta come to the Golden Globes, Meghan Markle!'" the interviewer asked.
"We don't have her number. We just don't. So, she'll see, she'll watch. She should be happy that we're here," she continued.
Whether Markle skipped the event or she was uninvited remains unclear. However, her absence was probably a blessing in disguise because she and her husband were among the subjects that the event host joked about that night.
The Golden Globes host, Jo Koy, made a brutal joke about Markle and Prince Harry. It followed after the release of the final series of Netflix's fictional royal drama "The Crown" and jokes about "Succession."
"Just a great series about a rich, white, dysfunctional family, all scheming -- oh no, that's 'The Crown,' that's 'The Crown,' I'm sorry," Jo Koy said, prompting the crowd to laugh.
"How great was Imelda Staunton in 'The Crown,' wasn't she amazing? The portrayal of the queen was so good Prince Harry called her and asked her for money. Turns out Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will still get paid millions of dollars for doing absolutely nothing -- and that's just by Netflix," he continued as cameras zoomed in on the streamer's CEO, Ted Sarandos, who was laughing like the rest of the guests.
